an update...

Well if it wasn't bad enough that I'm up to my ears in my writing work and have so little Simming time already - then the laptop I play TS3 on just pretty much exploded. Right out of the blue. No fun. I had recently finished my LH world too, and was having a ton of fun moving all my families in. I like to hope it wasn't my new LH world that blew up my whole computer. I mean, can that even happen?

Regardless, that laptop is toast. I can't install TS3 on Dinosaur PC, and even though by now I've bought myself a new cheapie laptop for my writing (which oddly has higher specs than the last laptop - you know, new technology 'n stuff) but I don't want any TS3 stuff on it. If not the game itself, I fear it was probably all the CC websites I went to on it that picked up whatever it was that killed it.

Paranoid maybe, but I've decided that having my writing stuff and my gaming stuff all on the same computer is probably a very bad idea. And I'm sticking to that.

I do actually have a couple updates I finished in TS3, though in the order they need to go, there were still a few unfinished too. Though I could - and think that I might - just top off the unfinished ones with TS2 so that I'll have something to post. Which means in the coming months, you might be seeing some updates from both, lol! Will that be weird? Probably. But it won't be until May or June that I'll be able to purchase (hopefully) a new PC to run TS3 on again.

I miss it so much! I was in the middle of doing some really cool stuff with it too. :(

April and May are going to be filled with lots of work and travel for me, which is going to be FUN and exciting! But which also means little or no Simming. Until then, I'll be hopefully posting the last Phoenix family story piece, and the couple little mini-updates I have lying around, and then by mid-May or June, I'll have some real Simming time again! And hopefully, a new gaming computer to play on! :D

So that's my plan then. Hope everyone is doing well! :)

  1. Eh, you've already done an update with a mix of TS2 and TS3 pics, which worked really well. So I don't think having some TS3 updates and some TS2 updates is going to be too weird. ;)

I'm excited for you to get set up again with your game. I hope you have a very recent back up - you'd done so much work on your LH world.

  2. I'm able to access the computer in Safe Mode still, so I was able to back up everything in its most current state. (And go back to back up files I forgot to grab, lol!)

Heh, I guess if you don't think too hard about it, the games are really not too different after all. Especially interior shots. On Tumblr these days, I can hardly tell the difference between them unless they're scenery shots. Shots with Sims, I think as long as I stick to one or the other, it might not be too jarring. We'll see. ;)

  3. I am just thinking, hmmm... how long has it been since I last catch up on the Lakeside series, and here I am finding Laura's old laptop has exploded.

If you already want to dedicate your laptop to writing only, why not invest in a desktop which is cheaper, and won't have the same overheating problem of running Sims 3 on a laptop? The multicore CPU can handle the Sims 3 game much more smoothly, with such you won't need to buy an overly expensive graphic card. Though Sims 2 game can only use only one of the cores while it runs though, which sucks.

  4. Lepifera! Hi, how are you!? :) Yes, isn't it always the case, when you have the least time and energy to deal with an exploded laptop, that's when it'll happen? lol!

I am planning to get a desktop machine for gaming only. That'll likely happen in June, I think. I've already bought a new cheapie writing laptop that I am having to use lots of willpower not to install TS3 on it. Because I know it would probably run TS3, but that it would also explode it just like the last one did.

But I'm excited about playing TS3 on a really decked out gaming desktop though! And I *am* planning to get an overly expensive graphics card, lol! I've never had a really great gaming computer before, even when Dino PC was new, so since this is my gift to myself for having finished my book, I'm going all out! I just have to get a little more work out of the way first, and then it's time to PLAY! :D

Awww, I didn't know TS2 would only run off one. That's unfortunate.
