Eyebrows are the hardest thing to match between the two games - they can't be shortened or moved or widened at all. In fact, there are only three sliders, and scarce options for the actual eyebrow textures themselves. And as for the eyelids - it was actually a makeup set (by Bruno, I think) that I used to use on all my TS2 sims, that gave them such defined eyelids. I haven't found anything like that for TS3 yet, so their eyelids have been trouble for me too.
It's probably only because of the SimSecret that I even feel compelled to put up comparison shots at all. Now I'm all icky and nervous about sharing the TS3 makeovers as I finish them, so I guess I'm stewing about it a little still.
I've never gotten a SimSecret before, so I'm not sure about the proper etiquette in responding to them, if there is such a thing. I talked about it to friends a little, in private. I wasn't going to talk about it here - I mean, really, there isn't anything *to* talk about. I wasn't going to mention it at all, except here I am wanting to say a couple things all out in the open and properly:
1.) I'm doing the best I can.
2.) I'm happy with most of the transitions so far, and the ones I'm not happy with will be worked on until I am happy with them.
3.) Given that the story is (and has been) about 85% written all the way up through about 2085 at the moment, the change in illustrations really won't affect anything at all about the story itself.
4.) Unless you hate TS3 Sims so much that you'd stop reading the story over it.
5.) And that would be really sad.
6.) But you know, whatever. Do what you gotta do, and we shall all carry on in peace and harmony? :\
I did manage to find a couple bits of "confiscated traffic paraphernalia" in game, but if anyone knows of any more - street signs, caution warning tape, traffic lights - Ryanne would be eternally grateful!
Also, TS3 needs throw pillows!!! I loved my pillow sets for TS2! (Maybe a little too much? lol!)
Also #2, looks like I didn't get a pic of her bottom half, but Ryanne does have green knee socks and boots! :D
I saw that SS, and I have to admit. I was green with envy. LOL I have yet to get one (don't think I ever will, but that's okay). And honestly (that was Micha and Kari right?) I was trying to place where I saw those sis before. LOL Then I read your post and it clicked.
ReplyDeleteI like your S3 sims, you've done a wonderful job with all of them. But you know me, even though I do play S3 from time to time, the look of the sims, the look of the hood, and the all aroudn game just dosen't match up to S2. I think this is the main reason I could never switch over to S3. No matter how hard people try, the sims still have pudding face and they look... off.
If someone stops reading your story soley on the fact that you're now playing S3 and using to tell your story, then, in my opinion (which isn't much! Ha!) they never really were invested in your story to begain with.
Just keep doing what your doing. Don't worry about what that person said. I think you've done bang up job (said that already). Keeping doing what you're doing. Those of us who enjoy your story and have gottn to know the little bit of you that you share with us, know that you are a sweet person and don't let these little things get to you. (Yeah, easier said than done!)
And I didn't post it in the comments but I love how Ryanne looks like her older sister. I thik it's sweet.
Riverdale, You're jealous of my complaint secret? LOL I've certainly been jealous of some love-secrets before, but I'll leave the complaint ones, lol! ;)
ReplyDeleteTrue, they don't look exactly the same, and can't really either. But through all my trials, I've come to appreciate them for their differences, and for the ways they are much better than TS2 Sims - the smoothness of their joints and skin, the variety of their body shapes and sizes. Even the genetics are really not bad - of course, when you start with pudding, you'll get pudding babies, but if you give them some variety in their facial features, the children come out okay. Or well, when they grow up they do, lol! TS3 children and babies all really look kind of samey until they're teenagers. But they do have their own kind of cuteness.

ReplyDeleteHonestly, looking at your "new" sims has made me want to start something with TS3. They look so good. Of course they look a bit different than the TS2 sims but then again, it is a different game! I think you've done a great job converting your sims to TS3. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. And besides, it's your hood, you should do whatever you want with it!
Thank you Sari! You should definitely give it a try! They do look different, but with the right CC, they're not bad at all. Most of them still feel like themselves to me. It's just like looking at them in a different light, or something.

ReplyDeleteThe punk set from the store - I think it's called Loud, Fast, Clash or something like that - has a lot of cool stuff Ryanne might like, like a bookcase made from drums and furniture made from reclaimed junk and stuff. It's probably hella expensive, but MATY have it if you're not opposed to that option.
Ryanne is looking awesome! I think she's super, super close to the TS2 version. And I actually like her TS3 hair better than the TS2 one ;)
ReplyDeleteAs for the Sim secret...ugh. That was one of those ones that I read and wondered why it really needed to be said at all. I feel like that about most of the mean secrets, actually. I'm not usually a proponent of "if you don't have anything nice to say..." but it just seems so unproductive. Seriously, don't pay them any attention. Unless you get a love secret and then you can feel free to revel in it. ;)
I think TS3 Ryanne looks great. I think I said this on Shana's blog, but it applies to you as well, Laura. If people are hating on you, it's because you're doing something right. Stay strong!
