And don't mock, Justin, your getup isn't much better, lol!
Initially, I didn't want to get one of my story Sims pregnant, because it'd be weird, I think, since a lot of these couples are in such complicated arrangements at the moment. But because I had such a HELL of a time getting anyone pregnant, and I was impatient, I finally just said, what the hell, y'all can have at it!
And they did...
And the winner is!...
I'm experimenting with my pregnancy setup. I have the longer pregnancies mod (9 days, I think?). I'm trying to figure out a way to make the pregnancies stay static while I'm not playing the families, so I can keep the neighborhood aging, but work that into a realistic 9-month pregnancy for my story/blogging purposes.
I also need to figure out how to change their maternity clothes?
This was the first protest I'd seen so far. Not sure what Mariah knows about being oppressed by the police, the spoiled little rich girl she is, but whatever, lol!
(I'm also not updating my game right now because I can't be bothered to find updates for all my mods, lol!)
And Micah wants another baby girl, by the way - awww! Good work, Micah!
"No problem," Micah says. "It was hard work, but somebody had to do it."
It really was hard work - man, they did it like seven times before one of them stuck!

Oh, and please pardon the ugly brown-tiled house I stuck them in. I'm not really paying much mind to decorating at this point, since these aren't going to be the houses they'll all stay in. Just wanted to let you know, my taste isn't *that* bad, lol! ;)
MC will let you change the pregnancy clothes. Go to stylist and it'll show you what clothes are enabled for pregnancy, you can also color the clothes.
ReplyDeleteYou asked about Pat's pregnancy clothes and they came from here. She's got a lot of cute maternity wear.
Also lol Mariah! Pregnant and feisty, so cute.
Awww, and I just lost Mariah's pregnancy :(
ReplyDeleteSnarky told me not to switch households after using stasis on a pregnant Sim, and I thought she meant not to *move* households, so I went and did it, and no more preggy.
It didn't seem like stasis was working to keep her pregnancy from progressing anyway though, because her belly kept growing.
Awww, she was so cute though! :(
LOL, I feel like she just had a miscarriage or something! Will have to knock her up again.
Oh, so the matter at hand is - is there any way to stall/freeze a pregnancy in TS3?
ReplyDeleteI did manage to figure out the pregnancy clothes thing though, so there's that at least!
Or, another thought, is there a mod that makes pregnancy last super-long? Like 270 days or something (=9 months real time)? Then we could just let the pregnancies progress as normal, and fast forward through the days of the month we don't need for story updates.
ReplyDeleteThat might be a lot of fast-forwarding for you guys, but for as slow as my story goes, I could see myself using up all 30 days of a month to get my story pics and background stuff done.
Ah, Google is my friend. There IS a nine-month preggy mod!!! :)
ReplyDeleteHERE.
I have no idea if it's updated or works, but I'll be trying it out! Now I have to get out my calculator and figure out what age spans to use. And I suppose I'll get that generations patch so I can modify my ages accordingly.
Oh nerdy glee! I see charts coming, lol!
(I suddenly miss having my editable-forum thread for babbling in, lol!)
ReplyDeleteThere's also a 30-day, and 9-day pregnancy lengths at that link, if you think those lengths might work better for your play style.
I also found this accidentally. It's newer, so you may want to use that one instead if it isn't clear when that other hack was last updated.
ReplyDeleteI've been using this one, but it's not updated for the most recent update.
Dang, sorry, that first one apparently is just the updated version of the one I had been using.
ReplyDeleteThat mod is 9 months, but if you play figuring that 1 Sim-day = one month.
ReplyDeleteBut the one I just downloaded is 9 months of actual Sim-days, so your Sim is pregnant for 270-something Sim-days, lol! I know it sounds crazy, but I really think it would work for me, as slow as my hood goes, and as many families as I switch between :)
I mean, if the mod actually works. I'd like to say I'll test it out tonight, but I don't know how I'll get through 270 Sim days in one night to test it, lol!
The only problem with this real-time 9-month pregnancy mod is that I can't find an aging mod long enough to match it, lol! The longest I've found so far is 1680 days, where if I wanted my neighborhood to progress in real days, a lifespan would have to be like... 28,800 days! :o
ReplyDeleteAnybody seen a mod like that? LMAO!
TS3 needs a freeze pregnancy mod badly!
ReplyDeleteI think I know where you went wrong switching households but I think I might have my Story Progression different to yours, so I could be off base. I don't use the Stasis option, so I'm not sure how it works. I just go to NRSaas/Story Progression/Town Options and turn off anything I don't want my non-controllable households to be able to do without me.
With pregnancy, in Town Options, you'll see two different pregnancy options you can turn on or off.
One of them is Push Pregnancy (or Pregnancy Push) - when that's on, it means your Sims can get pregnant without your intervention, while you're playing other houses.
The other option is Pregnancy Any. You want to keep that one on. If you turn it off (which I'm guessing you did, if you lost Mariah's pregnancy), all pregnancies will be terminated when you switch households. If you leave it on though, it will progress as normal and the baby will be born whether you're playing the family or not.
Thanks Carla! I think I've got all my settings straight by now, lol! This is what you get when you don't actually read the readme, and just go off what you think the mod sounds like it does! ;)
ReplyDeleteOkay, trying this out again - Mariah is pregnant again, and this is going to be a LONG test, lol! She's currently about ten days pregnant (out of 270!). No symptoms or anything yet, but I know she is indeed pregnant because the MC has the option to end the pregnancy. Wish there was a pregnancy scanner, like on the SimBlender for TS2!!! Oh man, that would be handy! Because for sure with this 9-month pregnancy thing, since they won't even show for the first 90-something days, half my town could be running around pregnant and I wouldn't even know it!
So this seems super-long right now, but once I start working on getting story pics, I don't think it'll seem so long. I could easily spend 30 Sim-days of a month between getting story updates for the month and any extra behind-the-scenes play.
As far as aging though - a far simpler trick - I'm just going to do aging off, then turn it on for one day of the month to represent all of their aging for that month. The pregnancy goes on by hours anyway, so the two don't really have to correlate at all, like I first assumed. I'll do a proper write-up about it all at some point.
Quickie updates on the others:
- April broke up with her super-rich boyfriend, lol! She has commitment issues, so I'm very surprised she went steady with him at all.
- Dallas rolled a want to marry Lucy! (Awwwww!!!!!) They're so stinking cute, even in TS3. They're not allowed to get married yet though. I'm so weird about my story Sims, lol! I'm sure at the end of all this, I'll be so attached to Mariah's pregnancy that I'll let her keep it for the story once we get that far.
- Catherine has fallen for yet another married man, lol! Oh man, I'm gonna have to write a story about this girl some day. It's kind of sad this time though - he's a coworker, moderately cute for a premade (named Odin-something), and they have a lot of fun together, but he's married to some chick who wants like 5 kids and he doesn't even like kids at all! How's that for drama? lol!
Oh lol you seem to be having lot of fun experimenting. Master control will let you change pg clothes, use the stylist option. I didn't read other comments, I'm sure someone already mentioned it :)
ReplyDeleteMust be real strange experimenting with your story sims, I always feel like they are real people and I shouldn't mess with their lives, lol how sad am I. So I usually test things out on random sims, but can just imagine how impatient one can get hehe. And yeah ain't some of those EA houses just pure fugly.
P.s. Weird request, can you enable name/website comments and for some reason my OpenID hasn't been working for a while and I hate using my google account ;) thank you.
Sorry about the comments, Speechless! Should be fixed now! :)
ReplyDeleteAgreed, I'd much rather make up some testing Sims to mess around with - I can't have the stories getting mixed up in my head, lol!
Problem is though, then I get attached to my testing Sims and want to give them a place in the neighborhood. I'll probably end up bringing Catherine over to be a townie when this is all done ;)
Yay!!! I have a real-time aging mod (1 sim-day = 1 day, 23,400 day life span!) to match my real-time 9 month preggy mod! It wasn't very hard to do after all! :)
ReplyDeleteOnly thing now is I have no idea what the new Generations sliders might do to all of this, now that I have it all working properly :\
No worries, most people have blogger or free wordpress...got no idea why silly openid isn't working for me anymore.
ReplyDeleteWow real length ageing and pg, you really planning to actually playing them through that long?!
Speechless, LOL, I already am playing them that long in TS2! *blushes* For a good while, LH has been running slower than real time even, which I hope to speed up again soon - the last month of story time took me 10 RL months to complete, lol! So real-time aging shouldn't be a problem for me! ;)
ReplyDeleteBut if there ever comes a time I want to play them faster, the shorter settings of the mod are one Sim-day = one month, one season, half-year, and year. And I have preggy mods to match most of those speeds as well.
Oh lol good luck with that, at least you are well equipped with all the right mods;)
